FAQs
Swim questions, answered
What age can my child begin swim lessons?
Baby & Me starts at 6 months old, with a parent or caregiver in the water.
How do I know which program my swimmer needs?
Book a Swim Assessment. Miss Selenia will see where your swimmer is and recommend the right program and level.
Should I book an assessment first?
Yes, especially if you're unsure which program fits. It's the best starting point.
Do you teach adults?
Yes. Adults who never learned, feel fearful, want better technique or fitness are all welcome, plus Adult Swim Sesh.
Do you teach swimmers who are afraid of the water?
Yes. Lessons move at the swimmer's pace, building trust before skills.
Do you offer adaptive swim lessons?
Yes. Adaptive Aquatics is individualized for neurodivergent swimmers and swimmers with developmental, sensory or physical needs.
Do you work with Inland Regional Center and SDP families?
Yes. Contact us and your IRC Service Coordinator for information specific to your plan and eligibility.
What is the Self-Determination Program?
A voluntary California Regional Center program that gives eligible participants more control over their service plans and providers, with an individual budget for eligible services.
Which homeschool/charter programs are you approved with?
We're an approved vendor with Taylion Academy. More partnerships are listed on the Adaptive Aquatics page as they're approved.
What should swimmers bring?
A swimsuit, towel, water and goggles if they like. Please ask us about anything specific to your swimmer.
Are swim diapers required?
Yes. All children not fully toilet-trained must wear a properly fitted swim diaper every lesson. We recommend a disposable swim diaper under a snug reusable swim diaper cover. Regular diapers are not acceptable.
What happens if there is a fecal accident in the pool?
The pool must close for CDC-mandated sanitation, which takes several hours. Families are charged a minimum $300 fee to cover closure, lost hours and chemical treatment. Please don't bring children who have been sick or had diarrhea in the last two weeks.
Why are swim lessons priced the way they are?
You're getting certified, specialized instruction (CPR, First Aid, Water Safety), a warm, privately maintained heated pool, and small groups capped at 3–5 swimmers. It also includes a free 30-minute assessment, custom placement, open pool practice options and on-call support.
Why 6-lesson packages?
Most students become water-safe within 6 lessons and start building technique within 12. If more lessons are needed, returning students get 20% off all future packages.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please call or text (760) 713-6503 for current cancellation and rescheduling details.
What is the difference between private and group lessons?
Private lessons are one-on-one and fully individualized. Group lessons put swimmers at a similar level together.
What is Adult Swim Sesh?
Our adults-only experience on the first Saturday of each month: guided instruction plus time to practice, play and socialize. No levels. No pressure.
What is Mermaid Academy?
Swimming skills combined with safe mermaid-tail swimming and technique.
Do you offer pool parties, mermaid appearances or lifeguarding?
Yes. See Parties & Events and inquire about your event.
